The Rural Futures team has the knowledge and expertise to deliver, develop and support specialist rural regeneration programmes.

Delivery
Trained in facilitation and appraisal the Rural Futures team understand the policy and programme requirements of funding by European, national, regional and local government. Focused on delivery, they work closely with each client to ensure projects comply with policy. With excellent local knowledge the team actively seeks to integrate rural business through collaborative opportunities. The Rural Futures team can demonstrate a track record of rural regeneration delivering:

Delivery programmes undertaken by the team or delivered in partnership with other organisations include:

  • Bowland Initiative 1999-2002.
    National Pilot for integrated business and environmental support to the landbased sector.

  • Lancashire Rural Futures 2002 – 2008.
    The UK’s largest specialist service delivering business and environmental support to all rural business sectors. It facilitated over £26million of public and private investment, created over 1200 new jobs and placed 12,000ha of land under positive environmental management.

  • Leader + Rural Sustainable Marketing Programme. 2003-2007.
    Delivered specialist marketing and renewable energy support to rural businesses. Facilitated £2.3 million of investment to over 370 businesses.

  • SPUR. Alongside United Utilities and RSPB,
    Assisted with the delivery of over 2000ha of Lancashire uplands into new agri-environmental funding schemes including HLS, ELS and WGS, and creating carbon sinks to address climate change.

  • Local food tourism initiative in co-operation with Booths, Lancashire & Blackpool Tourist Board and tourism providers.

  • Support for festivals which celebrate local distinctiveness

Rural business support case studies

This was a £2.3M EU funded programme. The programme was delivered on time and to budget claiming 99.7% of the available funds.

The Rural Futures team was at the forefront of pioneering a new approach to regeneration in rural areas.

Rural Futures were invited to contribute to a study to assist the steering group.

Rural Futures was commissioned by Rural Innovation and the Lancashire & Blackpool Tourist Board to facilitate a promotion for staying visitors based around picnics.

Rural Futures created a series of three cheese trails. Each trail is a short circular walk in the vicinity of the cheesemakers dairies.

 

Rural Futures have completed a report for County Council on replacing traditional fossil fuels in vehicles with biofuels.
